Monday 21 April, Northampton, British Championship

As the cars lined up for the first race of the meeting, the British Championship, Cliff Bunn found he had clutch trouble and being in the middle of the pack decided to start at the rear of the field, another driver seemed to be having the similar trouble was Nick Price as his car kept creeping forward. At the green flag it was Pete Dorrell who took up the lead from Jack Hodges Leon Smith and Allen Herbert. Nick Price managed to get ahead of Marc de Land at the start but his clutch trouble caused him to not go into gear and got a shunt up the rear from Marc wrecking Marc`s new front end, Not happy. By the end of lap one cars had all sorted them self out and the racing was under way. Dave Bonser was going well as he worked his way up through the field, Pete was still out front on lap 3 with Leon up to second with Dave not to far back, Daniel Pooley was on the outside of Allen Herbert going into turn one with Nick Price and Jonathan Pooley just behind, Nick lost his rear end and found himself sitting in the middle of turn one on the racing line every one missed him as he rejoined two laps down. With 7 to go Dave managed to pass Pete for the lead and Leon and Jonathan were not to far back and they both took Pete when he went wide on turn 3. Then Jonathan drove around the outside Leon on the back straight to take 2nd. There was a full course yellow was Jack had spun on the exit of turn two. On the restart Dave took off into the lead where he stayed to the chequered flag, in the latter stages Daniel caught Pete and squeezed him up against the infield going through turn one/two that was enough to get Dan by, 4 to go and Pete was just holding onto his fourth place from Daz Rycroft Marc de land and Nick Price who passed Marc then Daz had to take avoiding action as Nick for a gap that was not there, in a bid to catch dan he spun on the exit of turn 2 . Dave Bonser coasted over the line as his driveshaft broke on the last bend of the last lap to win the Britsh Championship from Jonathan Pooley.

Tony Smith made a bad start in raqce two and nearly got collected by Dave Bonser. Back at the front Pete Dorrell was the leading yellow grader and set about trying to catch Chris Neal who was going well in his BMC Dart. After three laps the field started to bunch up, Gordon Pooley was the first Blue grader and took Jack Hodges down the back straight, just behind was Daz Rycroft Nick Price Dan Pooley Marc de Land Jon Pooley Dave Bonser and Andrew Bilby who had slipped down the order. With 3 to go and a victory in the bag the 74 car let Chris down as he retired from the lead to the infield. That gave the lead to Pete Dorrell, Jack lost his third place to Nick Price who was going well in this one. Pete came under pressure from Leon during the last lap but he hung on to take the win.

Alan was the early leader in the third race from Pete Dorrell and Jack Hodges, Back in the red grade Nick and Marc had a coming together going into turn 3, Both drivers thought it was the others fault with Nick in the wall and Marc facing all the oncoming traffic neither driver was happy. Marc rejoined two laps down , Lap 6 and Allen Herbert was still out front from Pete Dorrell, Leon Smith was in third but that was under threat from Daz Rycroft, Mark Hodges was pulling clear of Gordon Pooley who had his mirrors full of Dave Bonser. As the laps ticked down Pete Dorrell retired from 2nd place, Daz had got by Leon and was closing in on Allen Herbert for the lead, with two to go Jonathan Pooley managed to find a way pass Leon who had made life hard for JP in getting by, Dave Bonser followed close behind to move up to 4th, Jonathan braked early just catching Dave out and he gave a tap to the rear end of the 31 car, Last lap and Daz took up the lead from Alan and that's how they finished.
